Hi all

I know this topic has probably been done to death and I have myself contributed to related threads, but I'd like some up-to-date feedback on whether people think St Lucia / St Vincent / Grenada are safe enough to cruise. I'd really like to go back over Christmas, but am put off by the apparent high levels of crime.

I haven't been for a few years, but have probably spent the equivalent of about 3 months cruising the area with no problems at all, despite the obvious issues published on CSSN. It does look like it might be a little worse now than previously though, but I am conscious that there are a lot of yachts in the area so the likelihood of being a victim is probably still quite low.

Anyone have recent experience of sailing in this area. Any opinions?

We went through a few months back for the first time and it all seemed fine as far as crime is concerned. I think the key there like any place else is simply to stay situationally aware. We didn't stop at St Vincent but went all through St Lucia, Tobago keys, and Grenada. We never once felt unsafe in grenada or the keys and found the people to be exceptionally outgoing, friendly,and helpful.
