My point exactly. You can't beat the chart data in Explorer Chartbooks but the electronic versions lose all the collateral information. Need the phone number for Wally's or Colors in Marsh Harbour? In the book. Need to know where to get a local SIM or a top-up? In the book. Need an update on where to drop trash in Elizabeth Harbour? In the book. Need to know where Dave ran aground in Allen's Cay? That will cost you a drink.

Re: Which Bahamas cruising guide

Actually I have the Explorer Chartbooks, and the C-Map chip in the chartplotter that is Explorer based plus has the Active Captain info. Late 2018 release on the chip version, and I think 2019 update was supposed to remove AC. The chartbooks I buy new every other year, which is as often as we go to Bahamas.

In 2021, prior to trip, will get the latest chip, which won't have AC data. But I think Zeus 3 will allow me to have both chips on plotter, so i can refer to AC when i need to? Or maybe they will work up a sharing deal with Garmin by then.

I like mxmariner for AC bc it becomes active at 8 mile scale compared to navionic, which becomes active at .2 miles. Only downside is limited Bahamas charts.

I bought Explorer Chartbooks on Aqua Map as backup, but with Active Captain and Waterway Guide POIs became my go to tool.
