Volunteering for Tall Ships

There is a Tall Ship festival here is town this week. There are 7 sailboats around 100'-180' built and designed after ships in the 1800's.

Ship's Diary: On Board the Pride of Baltimore

I am interested in volunteering on a Tall Ship for a long weekend along southeast coast or caribbean on one of these old ships. How and where can I volunteer for somethng like this. I am interseted in being a part of the crew for several days.

Has anyone here done this before?

Hi Low Country Home Builder, I used to crew tall ships for beer money and although it was a while ago the best way to find short-term positions was when they're off on a delivery or similar, maybe just out of a yard, and it's, i'm afraid, usually done the old fashioned way - walk the docks where they are, just go up to the boat directly and ask, and talk to everyone around you. Often someone will know someone who needs someone. My first place i got just by asking straight up - though i had to spend a month painting the bilge first - tough love! For internet try ASTA in the first place.

Tall ships

Wish I could be more helpful. I'm sailing Grenadines at moment, if I see anyone i'll ask on your behalf and post back here if anything comes. Good luck.
