Visiting Los roques

Hi everyone,
I am currently in the Grenadines with my boat and I'm planning to visit Los roques islands northern Venezuela by the end of July.
I am looking for someone who has been there lately (last weeks), to have some information about the situation there.
I am also looking for a boat that's planning to go there as well, so we can cross together.
FYI, l'm not looking for a crew
Thank you for your answers.
Regards,

Re: Visiting Los roques

Hi Bidhou
I'm new at this fórum so I do not know well how it Works
I've entered just to ask the same question tan you
we are planning to go to the roques at the beginning of july from martinique probably passing by Tobago keys or Unión but my girl friend is getting scared about the piracy in Venezuela.
We would feel more confortable sailing and above all anchoring there near other fellows... but as we are in the hurricane season (eventhow its below the 12º limit) we are afraid that it will be quite empty.
for once in my life I would'nt mind a "croudy anchorage.
the news that I have is that the situation at los roques is like the one in" l'ile a vache "in Haití ,a safe Paradise just by the chaos... but that was last year...
We sail a 45 ft cruiser and average 140 miles dayly.
if you here about a fleet going around mid july please keep me informed.

Re: Visiting Los roques

Hello maldhorror,
Thanks for your post.
I would definitely agree on sailing in a fleet, but I still need to make sure that it is safe when we get there.
Noonsite.com has some comments on Los roques that are not very reassuring.
We are currently in bequia and we expect provision in Grenada(more choice, and more affordable than the Grenadines) before leaving for Los roques, in case we go.
Let me know if there are more information on your side.
