Virgin Islands WiFi

Hey fellow cruisers.....

We are planning a sailboat cruise in the US and British Virgin Islands. How can we get Internet access from our boat?

Can we pick up Internet at any of the anchorages? Is there an ISP that has towers near any of the anchorages?

Thanks for the help...Jimmy

I have an AT&T phone and did get coverage in certain spots. Many of the overnight stops do have wifi as well for free.

My advice though - if your going for vacation and for a week or so, just disconnect. It such a nice break.

Most places have wifi - in fact I had 4 or 5 choices at Sopers Hole..

There are several places throughout the islands that offer Internet access. Most have free wireless connections and can be found at the following locations: Saba Rock, Virgin Gorda Sound; Cybercafe, Trellis Bay; Loose Mongoose, Trellis Bay; Lambert Beach Resort, Tortola; Nanny Cay, Tortola; Village Cay Marina, Road Town; Myett's, Cane Garden Bay; Samarkand Jewellers, Soper's Hole; Foxy's, Jost Van Dyke; The Watersports Centre, Jost Van Dyke; Anegada Reef Hotel, Anegada.

The BVI Tourist Board's updated website (Welcome - British Virgin Islands | Caribbean Destination | Tortola | Virgin Gorda | BVI) offers printable online information about each island, useful schedules and much more. The BVI Chamber of Commerce and Hotel Association (BVICCHA;, BVI Government, BVI Welcome Magazine and three local newspapers also host helpful websites with links to others belonging to various individual hotels and organisations. You may also want to visit Experience The British Virgin Islands for useful information about the islands.

Agreed, disconnect and you will have less to worry about. But if going for a long term solution that is is a good one. ATT charges all those roaming and extras for using outside the states.
