Verizon Phone Service in the Bahamas?

We are about 6 months from throwing off the dock lines and heading south (actually east, then south - currently on Lake Erie). I have been researching phone coverage and the T-Mobile plan seems very promising. When I checked last month, they were offering a plan that would provide 4 lines with unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, 2 gig of data per line and unlimited international/roaming service for $100! I know - sounds too good to be true. I haven't yet read the fine print or tried to sign up - but will be looking more closely as departure time approaches. We are currently with Verizon and paying through the nose.

I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile because of the GSM in the Caribbean.
I called T-Mobile to unlock my samsung because I was travelling overseas. They texted me an unlock code within ten minutes...

Has anyone tried Verizon's Travelpass program yet in the Bahamas? According to the website it is now available at $10/day once enrolled. Curious about coverage and data speeds.

Ten bucks a day? You got to be kidding. BTC 7 gig 45 days. $50. Foreign text fifteen cents. Local a nickel.

I should add that I come over for a few days at a time, not looking to get a local SIM card though I know this is the cheapest route. More about convenience.
