strong winds in bocas del toro?

Someone recently told me that bocas del toro gets strong short bursts of wind this time of year that could be up to 50 miles an hour. I am unfamiliar with this. Any insight? We plan to drop the hook for about 3 weeks in the area.

Are you sure they weren't talking about the San Blas area? Weather in Bocas is normally pretty benign. But San Blas gets those 50 mph winds during the summer months. Same in Cartagena.
