St. Croix Moorings

We will be sailing down to STX from STT next week. I understand that there are new moorings in Christianstad Harbor. Can anyone confirm? And if so, where do I pay? Are they close enough to dingy to town? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, is the Sunset Bar still open on the beach in Frederickstad? Did they add any moorings there? Have not been to STX in years. Any input on St. Croix would be great. Thanks. From there probably to Vieques. Any suggestions on anchorages there??

Re: St. Croix Moorings

I'm not sure what you mean by "new" moorings in Christiansted. There are public moorings just east of Round Reef in the harbor. The few times I've stayed in that area the swell has been too much to make those comfortable. I usually squeeze in and anchor west of Protestant Cay. I do know that these folks http://www.jonesmaritime.com have some moorings available to rent occasionally. They also have very reasonable dockage rates.

I can't help with Frederiksted info. My preferred place to anchor is Teague Bay over by the yacht club. It's much quieter there and away from the seaplanes.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks, Koop. As I said it has been a while. Last time there we also went to SCYC, they were extremely gracious with a mooring and drinks after a long sail in.

Yes, good folks at the SCYC. Our favorite restaurant is just to the west 150yds or so, Duggan's Reef I think it's called. Not cheap but very good quality with generous portions.
