Snow Birds Heading South

I was on the ICW in Wilmington, NC over the weekend and we saw tons of sails heading south. Man that looks like so much fun. I can't wait to get a sailboat and do some of this stuff. I often wonder where these people are going and how long they will stay. If it was me I would be heading to south Florida and then the Bahamas and Carribean.

Thanks,
Rick

We left Kingston, Ontario Canada on Sept 16 heading to the Bahamas. We are currently in North Carolina, arranging to be hauled to take care of a little problem.
Yes Rick its fun but it is also work... we have transitted 35 or maybe its 34 locks, various canals, rivers and towns...with lots more to come.
We also sailed non stop from New York city to Norfolk Virginia, and are contemplating more outside runs, if weather permits.
I try to post regularily on a blog and include photos. If this is something you want to do...plan for it...it will likely cost more than you think, be loads of fun and work.
Keep us posted on your plans...never know what hints we might pick up from each other.

We just returned to Florida this week from our summer in Maine and after a stay in our homeport we'll be off to the Bahamas, but we're not "snowbirds". There are plenty of us "hurricane birds" that fly with the same flock, but we travel to the north from our southern home to escape the hurricanes. 'take care and joy, Aythya crew
