Saling from Guadeloupe to Puerto Rico and back - how hard is it??

Hello dear sailors! This is my first post here!

Myself and my friend are planning a trip between Martinique to Puerto Rico then going back ending in Trinidad. We start mid march and finish early may.

We have heard that sailing to Puerto Rico with the tradewinds from the east is easy, but much harder going east on the way back because of the wind..

Is this true or false? Anyone got knowledge or experience in this?

Best regards,
John & Greg
