Sailing north via Gulf Stream

Next week I'll be going from Ft. Lauderdale to Georgetown, SC, mostly "riding" the gulf stream 440 nm on our 40' Schucker Motorsailor. Any ideas on how much of a "boost" we'll experience in speed?

If you're actually IN the stream and the winds are NOT out of the N/NE, you'll get an average of 2.5-3 kts from the current.

I just did the stream this past weekend. The stream gets pushed left, and right by wind. Your knot meter will tell you if you are in the sweet spot, or not. We had a minimum of 3 knots most of the time, and maintained high 12's, and low 13's for nearly a day. HAVE FUN!

If you have a temperature sensor, you can also determine how far into the stream you are. The warmer the water, the closer to the center you are.
