Saba - any good anchorages or mooring balls?

Looking to visit Saba in late April and wondered what it was like for anchoring/mooring balls etc.? Does it get very busy?

Thanks - I've read the previously but it seemed inconclusive - particularly interesting in the mooring buoys and how busy they get out of peak season

My only direct experience was that there where 10 mooring balls on the west side and you have to use a ball. The swell where so big se couldn't get ashore. My daughter went there this last summer for 3 days of diving and said there where more balls now. They didn't have a problem getting on shore.

We didnt stop because of the swells. Other cruisers told us the easier way to visit Saba - anchor at St. Martin or St. Bart and take the ferry over. Dive boats apparently go there all the time too.

was there last April, many mooring balls were available at that time.
long dingy ride to shore but very worth it!!
just go in settled weather.
dingy to town dock and hire a taxi to see the island.
can't wait to go back, it really is a must see!!

We've been twice and always found an overnight mooring ball. Don't mistake the dive balls for overnight moorings. Saba is worth visiting, but can be rolly. The only rollier anchorage we've experienced was Statia.

SABA Morrings on west side can be rolly. Sometimes you can get ashore on the west side (the ladder), best go to town dock. Saba onshore is extremely nice, a good hike up also if you like to stretch your legs.

Good snorkeling at the west side. we were advised (by a local fisherman) not to dive/snorkel at dusk/dawn due some sharks which apparently stay well clear during the daytime but might mistake a human for food at dusk/dawn. Then again, this might be a wild tale.

Though you are required to take a mooring on the south side when entering/exiting next time I'd hook up on a ball on the west side and dinghy into town dock for procedures.

We had a really nice time at Saba.
