Puerto Rico Taxes

we are thinking about leaving our sailboat in puerto rico in april 2015 till november 2015.... in bruce van zandt i am reading that if you leave your vessel for more than 60 days you have to pay import taxes on the value of the vessel..... is this true ... does anybody know?

I expect that would depend on your flag. On where you bought the boat and how it was already taxed, if it was bought and flagged in the US. And possibly on whether it is laid up, or in the water. Each treated differently in some US states, although PR is an "insular territory" with many differences from US States.

we are canadian flagged and would want it out of the water for the hurricane season

Canadian flagged boat, then, isn't it just a question of your total time in US waters, regardless of where in the US you might be? And of overstaying your entry, not one of local taxes?
