Any suggestions on how to handle this transit in april/may/June.? Single screw trawler, 7 knots cruise, 8.5 max.

check the weather, may get calms, otherwise you will be fighting 1-2 knot current and 20 -30 knot winds.

but being a la nina year you may get lucky.

colombia guide "caribbean compass"

You'll find a lot of very good information. The passage along the northern coast of Colombia and NW Venezuela can be a very rough one, so access to good weather forecasting resources is something you'll want to have.

Find a weather window, start early, make sure the fuel lasts.

bailout stops panama to aruba

We are now in Santa Marta Col. waiting for a window to Cartaghena. Look up the cruising guide of the coast of columbia by lourae and randy on line there are several stops you can make along the way if it is too ruff to go. Between Cartaghena and Aruba can be very challenging at the least. They have been doing that trip for many years. good luck.

Click on the photo below to get to the album of our trip from Aruba to Panama in 2007. Just follow it the other way around and wait for good weather at every stop.

Diesel can be had in Colon, Cartagena, Santa Marta and Oranjestad.

We'll be heading back to Curacao from Colon in the same period.

there's something wrong with the forum.. BBcode is broken, so link to album instead:
