You have to dinghy over. It is the honor system. There are park rangers around but they don't take the money. There are boxes on posts with envelops for the cash. There is a seawall that you can tie off to. however, I don't know the depth at the wall.

Except on weekends when the Cuban Navy takes over, there is plenty of room to tie up to the sea wall during the day and pay your anchorage free, have lunch or dinner at the restaurant or visit the park. The park is well worth the visit and has a nice swimming beach, fishing piers and a lighthouse to visit.

Then when it gets dark, move off of the dock and drop your anchor in the basin. If the weather is settled then you can move outside of the basin and anchor for free. I stayed there for 4-5 days last year and really enjoyed it.

Weekends get a little crazy with boats illegally tied to the wall all night and a good amount of partying going on. The basin gets crowded as well.

I was through there again last Saturday (15 Jan 2011) and again on Monday. I go in and out through there regularly. I have done it at low tide (5' draft). There is clearly more water than the charts would indicate. HOWEVER, it is my feeling that it is getting shallower over the years, and I wouldn't be surprised to get stuck there sooner or later...

There are much better spots on the south end of Key Biscayne than No Name. Like I said in an earlier post I haven't anchored there in over twenty years. Try Nixons or Hurricane Harbor, much nicer, not crowded and free, as it should be. I was there earlier this week still excellent spots.

Can you get inside of Hurricane Harbor? The chart looks like it is shoaled up all around the mouth.

What about the marine stadium?

Marine Stadium is an anchorage many use but it is a little run down and not so great an atmosphere. We have been in and out of Hurricane Harbor with a 6 foot draft and it is close but no problem. There is no shore access in Hurricane Harbor. Chuck

Yes good 8 feet going in about 50 feet off the wall, actually you can read the shallow parts. And yes you can get ashore there notwithstanding what others may say. Go right in, and there is a small piece of public property by the bridge on the north side. Tie the dink there and hop over the low fence at the bridge. Short walk to main shopping (Winn Dixie) and Cuban food area. Good wifi too. Now don't tell everybody or else it will get crowded. Last week I was the only one there until late at night when anothe cruiser came in.
