Re: Newfoundland worth the Trip?

We have sailed around the world (literally) and visited about 40 countries. Nowhere did we find a cruising ground as interesting as Newfoundland. Hope to go back in the next few years.

Re: Newfoundland worth the Trip?

The eastern shore of Nova Scotia is just as interesting with more comfortable conditions for those wanting a less strenuous adventure and who may not have the time. It was my favourite cruising area when I was younger.

Re: Newfoundland worth the Trip?

I have been studying the eastern part of Nova Scotia for the last 3 years.I was even planning mooring my newly purchased sailboat in Pepswick.According to the Guide to Nova Scotia, this area seems a lot more difficult than the western shore. There are very few services from Halifax to Cape Breton, seems to me. Not many shelters.Finnally bought a Mirage 27 in Quebec and don't know if I can make it that far now that i'm 76 years old...Interesting however.

Re: Newfoundland worth the Trip?

I sailed my Vancouver 32 from Chesapeake Bay to Newfoundland 2 summers ago and left her in Lewisporte for last summer after sailing around the west coast of Newfoundland, through the Strait of Belle Isle. I will be finishing the circumnavigation this summer and heading back to Maryland. I am happy to give you any info I can. You can also see my small blog at rincewindweb.wordpress.com.
