Need fuel polished in St martin

I have water in one tank (maybe holding 30 gallons of diesel). I can not find anyone who does fuel polishing/cleaning in St Martin. Can anyone suggest someone? With as many boats as are here... I can't be the only guy with water in a tank?

Re: Need fuel polished in St martin

I recommend signing in to the morning VHF net run by Shrimpy's and asking your question there, you'll have a number of cruisers giving you advice and recommendations.

I can't recall the exact details, I think the net is on 14 at 7am but am not 100% certain. Alternately go to Shrimpys (by the French bridge, accessible via dinghy, right across from L'ile Marine, and ask him for suggestions.

Phil and Arnd if brains were putty your windows would fall out!

The net is on VHF 14 at 7:30 am each morning except Sunday.

(Its should, of course be on a quiet channel like #68 but......)

No wonder it seemed so sporadic... and short...
Coulda sworn it was 8am last year... mind my clock could well have been wrong...

All cruisers nets seem to be crazy early in the morning. we're cruisers!

It should be Midday. Closely followed by Happy Hour (Part 1), closely followed by a Nanna Nap and Happy Hour (Pt 2)

Re: Need fuel polished in St martin

I had a similar problem in St Martin and found a contractor who did a very good job in polishing the fuel. Unfortunately I am away presently and do not have the name or contact information. I recommend you contact Simpson Bay diesel on the Duch side they may be able to provide you with a contact or ask at the customer service desk at Budget Marine (again on the Duch side). They are very helpful.
Good luck.

Hello Callisto. If you send me your e-mail I'll get you in touch with my old mechanic. He will know the best person for sure and I trust him completely, even though he is French

Simpson Bay Diesel's number is 721-544-5397, ask for Richard.

Call STARFISH on Channel 14, if no answer call BUSINESS POINT. Capt. Sludge does fuel polishing. He also delivers fuel and water to your boat at anchor. He has a boat with a centrifuge mounted in it.

Re: Need fuel polished in St martin

Mark - Thanks for the putty reference I am in the North Sound in the BVI right now waiting to clear out and head to St. Martin - I'll be seeing you again at Barnacle's or Lagoonies in a couple of days. My 18-hour slog upwind doesn't come close to your lengthy uphill battle from Florida; first shout is on me!
