Need Advice on Where to 'Hurricane Over' in NE Florida

Crossing the Atlantic this year and looking at cruising through the Caribbean to NE Florida and leave the boat there while returning home for the hurricane season.
Need advice:
Where?
In water or out of water?

Or should we just return to Trinidad for boat storage?

Florida should be fine. Fort Pierce has good dry storage, Harbortown at Cape Canaveral (Merritt island) also. If you need to do work while out.... not sure you can do it yourself at either of these though. Crackerboys near West Palm Beach used to have some storage.... not sure about your size boat. You can do your own work there. Other people on this forum are more informed than me probably.

Dry storage is the best way to go. I like Tiger Point in Fernandina Beach but there are lots of other places to store. Depends on your budget. There are private docks in Palm Coast where you can store in water for $150 per month. I do not recommend unattended wet storage. Dry storage runs about $400 per month for a 50 footer at the better yards plus travelift.

You can try Westland Marine in Titusville, they offer both and let you do your own work.

+1 for Tiger Point in Fernandina. Reasonable price. Historicaly out of path of hurricanes. DIY allowed.

Yes get your Florida chart out. You might not be able to get to some of the yards due to your mast height if it`s close to 65 feet.

You may get a better insurance rate if you go north of Florida during hurricane season. Having said that, we've only experienced one hellacious hurricane season (2005) in the 12 years we've been in SW Florida.
