Nassau to the Exumas

Doing a 7 day charter with navtours out of Nassau, any suggestion on itinerary? We are not doing the one way charter to georgetown but rather returning to nassau.

Navtours will give you an itinerary. 7 days only you won't get too far. Probably down to the Park and back. My favourite spot in that area is Normans Cay.

We're in that area every January and February and from Nassau return Normans is about as far as we see Nav Tours. It's a beautiful spot but has lots of sand bars far out from the western shore that you have to be mindful of. MacDuff's is closed and the island is going through some big changes and is no longer our favorite destination due to someone trying to get rich or richer with some way overpriced lots or condos or something but the water is still beautiful. Another fairly easy day and you're in Staniel Cay and at thunderball grotto but 2 days there and 2 days back and your 7 days are down to 3 to enjoy if the weather gods co-operate.

We did a 7 day itinerary out of Nassau 2 years ago. Our itinerary was to Highborne Sunday, Shroud Cay Monday,

Hawksbill Tuesday, Warderwick Wednesday, back up to Norman's Thursday with dinner at restaurant, Nassau on Friday.
Great trip, we still reminisce.

We missed Normans on the way down, and again on the way back. It's still on our list.

Allens Cay was our first stop from Nassau. Why do some of you not like Allens? It is one of our favorite anchorages.

As the others have said, 7 days is too short to enjoy the Exumas.

The anchorage in Allens is small and shallow in certain spots. It is usually crowded, (especially if the weather has kept boats in Nassau) as it's the first Exuma cay for many new cruisers as all want to see the iguanas. And if the current is not enough of a problem, some will anchor with two hooks creating more fun. Then the cigarette boats from Nassau come in and unload a hundred tourists to feed the iguanas.

If you want to see iguanas the best is Bitter Guana Cay just north of Black Point.

Ok. We did go there for the iguanas the first time, but we just really enjoy that anchorage. We were there in May and June this year, so guess the crowd had mostly left. I can see where it could get very crowded. There was a large motor yacht that went aground one evening, in the shallow area. They were still there when we left the next morning.
