Mooring in New Jersey

I'm looking for a mooring somewhere in Raritan bay area or a little north of it. I need it for June-July 6. Any recommendations?

A little north of it? Like NY harbor???

Check out ActiveCaptain and you'll find lots of options. Atlantic Highlands would be a good place to start?

Call Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club about a season mooring rental rate -- they run the moorings at the Municipal Marina. I don't think you can get any lower priced in that area.

There's plenty of room at Atlantic Highlands to throw the hook. It's one of the only places I know of that has purposely left a good place to anchor. I usually rent a mooring (expensive-$60) to use the launch/showers/go to town for supplies, but spend most time anchored. You can also anchor in Horseshoe Cove across on the Hook but there's nothing there and in a NW blow it can get rough.

Look for places along Staten Island. My suggestion might be the Yacht Club there. Go any farther north and you'll see what pricey is! Horseshoe cove, best to have local knowledge. I spent a night at Atlantic Highlands last year on a delivery, I think they offer slips, mooring balls or open anchorage.

Atlantic Highlands, has mooring balls, transient slips and an anchorage area.
it has a breakwater and is pretty sheltered from the prevailing SW winds.
There's a town nearby.

It's probably the best place in the area for the money that you're willing to spend.

Your 1st post was a little vague. How long are you looking to stay? a month? June 6th to July 6th ? Where are you headed after that?

What will you be doing while you're there? Do you need access to transportation, services, NYC?

More information is always helpful if you want the most useful feedback.

I have a slip deep water available at my dock on the Shrewsbury River, 1/4 mile upriver from AH marina for that period (my boat is not in water yet). Highlands, NJ 40.38°N 74.02°W PM me if interested.

Atlantic Highlands good place. anhorage is protected, good mooring also

Horsehoe Cove has tricky entrance with the fish wraps and is also exposed
