Don't bother /w bringing boose to the Bahamas - it's cheap there.
I’d expect to pay $5/pack or more for cigarettes in the Bahamas. I always stocked up on cases of cartons at the cheap Florida Seminole outlets, so cheap American smokes could be a good trade item. Bahamians won't be pleased to BUY them off (expecting your charity), but cruisers might.

I don't know about tobacco but alcohol for personal consumption has never been a problem. Most cruisers just bring beer as booze is much cheaper in the Bahamas but beer is $40 a case. Good rum is about $9 a liter.

$40! Heck, that's a good deal in the Bahamas for beer. Just a couple of months ago, we paid $60 for a case of Bud Light! Highway robbery.

One post indicated a few do. Ales would be much better easier than lagers unless you are a power boat with lots of refridgeration.

Once you leave the USA, you are not paying the prohibitive taxes on smokes, however you are most likely buying knock offs made in China ect... and there is definitely a difference in flavor or so I'm told by those who indulge.

Not to start a pro/anti smoking conversation but when I do have my boat NO ONE is EVER smoking anywhere near it!

Aside from the nastiness of the smell and sticky coating it leaves on everything, I just don't want to be the guy telling my friends about the boat I once had but that some yahoo with a cigarette burned to the waterline.

IDK, maybe I'm paranoid, but it just seems like boats and smokes do not go together.

I would certainly have a properly installed and maintained stove on board. And an engine (with its internal flame) that is in its own compartment and properly vented. As for the barbecue, if it's used with care properly certainly.

Of course I've never seen someone take a drag off their stove, barbecue, or engine and then carelessly toss its still burning remains wherever they felt like either.
