Marinas in Virgin Islands

Planning to stay 2 months somewhere in the VA. What is the nicest marina to use as a base station?

Any. I like Tortola. St. John does not have any Marinas. Bitter End is far and expensive. Can you give me some preferences that you like?

In Tórtola, I'd suggest Nanny Cay. In St. Thomas, American Yacht Harbor in Red Hook. Best for convenience and security.

Re: Marinas in Virgin Islands

There are so many marinas, and anchorages through out the BVI, and in fairly close proximity, we would suggest visiting them, and not just sitting on anchor for days or weeks.

Whickams Cay, Road Harbor, Tortola.

Fort Burt Marina anchorage area, Road Harbor, Tortola

Marina Cay / Trellis Bay / Scrub island Resort. ( east tortola area)

Canegarden Bay, Western Tortola

Sopers Hole, anchor. West End, Tortola. Full service marina, and easy going restaurants, grocery store, water, showers , haul out, etc.

Virgin Gorda Sound, ( North Sound Virgin Gorda ) many anchorages and marinas, main one that we like is Leverick Bay, showers, market, swimming pool, water, fuel, three bars/restaruants, etc. All of the above are within in mile of each other in protected waters.

Others, would be Saba Rock or Bitter End area. Bitter end is high end, so we have happy hour next door at Saba Rock. Also, Vixen Point for a peaceful beach and easy going happy hour. All in North Sound.

These are just a few of the different anchorage / Marina style places, but there are many, many more anchorages and islands to explore very easilly.

You will be able to find a marina that will suit your needs.
Check out the Cruising Guide to the Virgin Islands, BVI and USVI. You will be able to find more explicit information on what would suit your requirements.
