How do you deal with the visa issues. Will Cuban immigration stamp your passport? I would like to go and have heard nothing but good things. Get Nigel Calders cruising guide for Cuba.

Well, Defever might be from Canada and not USA. No restrictions on them.

I was there last year and stayed a couple of months. Its not cheap, I think it was .50/foot/day. If you stay longer they do reduce the rate.
The security is excellent. They have guards patrolling the dock all the time. But you are not allowed to bring any Cubans onboard.
The marina is huge. Its about 1/2 mile to the gate so bringing some sort of transportation like a bicycle really comes in handy. A scooter would be great.
As I said in another thread, when you come in and they inspect your boat, watch them carefully. Don't leave any thing lying around, even in drawers or it may go missing.
Try to bring CDN dollars or Euros. You get charged extra for $USD when buying Cuban money. Also you can't use credit cards from US.
Oh and they don't stamp your passport.

You can most often pay lone guard to be blind but if there's more.. no way sneak in.

Re: Marina Hemmingway - Habana, Cuba
Number of years ago I visited via a yacht to Hemingway's. Is was sad that you couldn't entertain Cubans on your own vessel.
I also took a bike and did lots of riding to get into shape, and visit much of Havana. BUT watch out they steal bikes readily....likely same for motorbikes.
On top of that I reported to the police that the bike had been stolen, and I reported that to the customs people at the marina. Yet when I went to depart from Cuba the marina they wanted to charge me duty on importing the bike....at 200% bikes worth. NOBODY had any written record of my reports about bike being stolen.

The law that Cubans could not go into tourist hotels was changed a few years ago. It might be that Cubans can now also go into the marina complex. It is definitely well guarded. I kinda think they'll be sympathetic when you want to bring a gal back to the boat.
With travel restrictions significantly reduced, she may have no problems at all joining you on your yacht and sailing away. Unless she is a doctor or someone else the regime "values". Not to say this kind of thing would not involve some hoops, but things are changing some on the island.

Re: Marina Hemmingway - Habana, Cuba
Been there a few months ago and the no Cubans on the boat is still very much in affect. They can't even come onto the dock.
As for the motorbike, if driven by a gasoline engine, you have to get it licensed which is a real pain. No need for license if its electric.

You can put it in dry dock at Marina Hemingway but very expensive and if you don't watch it closely it will be looted.
Don't even think about going to any place other than marinas in Cuba. The coast guard will be on you in flash. Also, big fines for going aground.
