Louisiana Passes

I have a 40 foot sailboat with 60 foot mast and 6 foot draft. Any local knowledge on entrances from the gulf up to the ICW in Louisiana? Easy or difficult trips to and from icw to gulf. What trips with my restrictions would you recommend. I am aquainteed with Texas , not farther East. Thanks Ed

Intercoastal City is a good place to enter, SW Louisiana is crawling with barges and deep draft shrimp boats and most of the bridges have been rebuilt to 125 ft so you should have no problem. There will be a music festival in every town every weekend and the food is special, but you will need a car. It's not really set up for the sailing community as it is a swamp with an oil rig every mile in every direction and butt ugly offshore, but the people are strange and can be entertaining in their own special way. It's not that different from East Texas.

Hey! I resemble that remark!

Well, at least I used to! I've lost my accent over the years, so people are surprised when I tell them I'm from South Louisiana.

And there's no way that South Louisiana is no different from East Texas! North Louisiana, yes - but not Cajun country!
