Re: looking to rent a boat to cross the Atlantic

Good idea, but the problem that I need to find a good, even better crew that will return the boat. the way back is longer and with high risks, during this time of year.

If you mean from the Mediteranean to the Caribbean or USA then you may have difficulties looking suspiciously like a refugee smuggler, or a drug transport.

The world is not so innocent anymore.

Where did you intend to go from and to?

I guess this is not so bad idea
To find a real cheap deal in a "SALE" country
And then sale it
But the sale might take a lot of time at the USA side..

Re: looking to rent a boat to cross the Atlantic

Quick question for Canibul
I see you sail with your dog. We"ll be on a sailing cat in a year or two (hopefully) and was wondering pros and cons of having a dog aboard. Have always had dogs, best buddies but not so sure how much trouble would be on a boat. Other problem is I wouldn't consider putting them with cargo on a flight home. Thinking possibly a small dog that can fit under the airplane seat. we've always had labs! Any thoughts ?? Thanks!

If you have the experience and qualifications required you might be able to get a delivery contract but most people would not be interested in mid winter, risk is to high.

Re: looking to rent a boat to cross the Atlantic

Gentlemen, I wonder what cargo would be taken on a 'pleasure craft' crossing the North Atlantic during the winter, on a one-way-trip from Europe/Asia to the USA? Do they need to bring suntan lotion?

Hi Omer
1. There is no charter business across the Atlantic.
2. There is a business renting berth to crew members on boats that cross the Atlantic. Especially during rallies like the ARC. Some of the boats on the rallies get crew members on cost sharing basis.
3. For highly experienced skippers there is a business of delivering boats across. Usually back W to E.
