Looking for 'Interesting' Bareboat in BVI

We had a great time on Dream Yacht's Catana 50 last year, but this year we are going for a smaller group (4-6) and thus a smaller boat. Any suggestions for a bareboat that is more performance oriented? Cat slightly preferred, but may consider a mono.

Also, if you have suggestions for something "interesting", I'd be open, I've chartered the FPs, Lagoons, been there done that, don't see the RC cats as much of a departure from that formula. Did a Privilege 39 back in the day, now the Catana. I see one outfit has a Seawind 1160 that could be interesting.

Monos? I've charted several of the catalina, hunter, beneteau, moorings type boats with lots of cabins jammed in. Last year we saw several big Irwin 65 center cockpits out and about. Too big for us, but a comfy mono built for long range cruising would be an interesting new sailing/cruising experience even if its an older model.

Thanks for the ideas!!

Mark

Leopard 44 with Sunsail looks interesting. Or the Leopard 39 with Moorings - owners version - would be nice to spend a week on!

The FP Mahes sail very well. Perfect for two couples who enjoy a fun quick smaller cat. The heads forward in the hulls are huge.

Interesting, I've heard that elsewhere as well. Do you know anywhere that charters them with a screecher or code 0?

No I do not. I'm not aware of any charter companies, or more importantly, the actual boat owners, that would want to provide downwind sails to a charter guest. I do know charter boat owners that have conventional and asymmetrical spins that they keep in storage and use when they take their boats out.

Have you contacted charter boat companies with your request?

Still working on my short list of options. The Catana 50 we had last year from Dream Yacht had a screecher that worked great for reaching. Hit 13.5 knots beam reaching up the west coast of Virgin Gorda and was surfing to 12 on a very broad reach back from Anegada. Smaller crew next year, so that boat is way too big.

CYOA in St. Thomas has two Mahe 36s. You can be on the boat 30 min off the plane and the next afternoon be in Jost. No screechers but still a great sail and good accommodation for two couples.

You should be on your boat next weekend on Jost for Foxy's Catfight. I think she would do very well and the party will be great!!!
