Looking for a lift: Antigua ---> Lissabon

Hallo dear community,
as I am currently headed on a major trip through South-America and I'd like to finish my journey with a sailing-adventure. A friend of mine recommended the turn from Antigua to Lissabon - well, sounds great to me! I just haven't found a ship or a crew yet. This is where you come along!

Now, I am not very experienced in sailing (I am eager to learn a great deal while travelling in advance though), I have no licence nor any equipment (yet). But Beeing an experienced diver, at least we can rule out sea-sickness... plus, I am a fast learner and really excited about doing this.

I will be in the Carribean around May, but I am very flexible.

Just PM me, if you happen to plan a trip of this kind (doesn't have to be Antigua, anywhere close by would be okay either...)

Cheers,
Philipp

Re: Looking for a lift: Antigua ---> Lissabon

Antigua is a good place to get a spot as crew aboard boats heading back to Europe, and the end of April to middle May (after the Antigua Sailing Week) is when the mass exodus happens. If you get a STCW certificate you will probably get a slot aboard one of the really big sailing or power yachts departing as they tend to be short of crew. If you don't have STCW then the big ones can't hire you, but there are still a lot of yachts of all sizes heading back. I cannot offhand think of a better place or time to find a spot for the trip you want. Now is a bit early to get firm committments or makes plans, but if you are in Antigua from the middle of April and hang about the sign boards at Nelson's or Falmouth and make some acquaintances at the Mad Mongoose you will certainly be successful.
