I know it's a bit of an aside, but do you think the spreader lights attract the sharks and rays or just allow us to see them? I only aks 'cos I love going for a late night dip just before bed

One of the perks for going to St. John is the snorkeling. I have snorkled every time and not seen any sharks during the day. You do see an occasional eagle ray. The sharks stay in deeper water
until dusk when the go to shallower water
to feed. The lights simply attrack the fish
that are already there. None of these are harmful to man to the best of my knowledge. The next time you go there ask one of the hosts who get free mooring
to stay in the anchorage and collect mooring fees
. They are very knowledgable about the sea life.
