Re: Kindle Usage In The Caribbean

Thanks. La Gringa and I can go cruising when I figure out how she can continue her medical software development business from the boat. We were able to do it last year in an Airstream in the US Rockies by buying the Verizon mobile wi fi hotspot. We had at least 3G ( with a Wilson amp) from Dallas to Taos to Ft. Collins. We don't mind buying the same hardware and service from BTC and AT&T if it will help us get on a boat and go.

hmm. Anyone know what cell service is like in Belize and San Blas areas?

Re: Kindle Usage In The Caribbean

Just downloaded a book to my computer and uploaded to my Kindle here in Santa Marta, Columbia. As others have said, anywhere you can get connected to the internet you can log on to Amazon, order, download to your computer and upload to your Kindle.

Re: Kindle Usage In The Caribbean

Use Kindle here all the time on the Caribbean coast of Guatemala, but only via local WiFi connections. Have never encountered copyright/distribution issues.

I have a wireless hub set up at the house with cellular based wireless service from TIGO. The hub allows multiple devices to share the TIGO connection (typically 2 laptops and a Kindle). Works great. This hub takes a 12v power input at only 1amp so it is viable to use on the boat too (when in service range of course...which is quite good here and in Honduras).
