Keys Weather Update

Hi- I am coming down to charter in the Keys next week. The weather forecast is for rain and gulp...possible tropical storms that are named...
What is going on down there??? Should I try and cancel my trip?

A few days can make a big difference in the keys, I looked at the NOAA forecasts and it looks like things will be improving over the next few days. I would not cancel my trip if It was me. How long have you been in Layton? My father was stationed at Hill AFB and I went to elementary school for a couple of years in Layton. Way longer ago than I care to remember.

Like they say, "If you don't like the weather down here, wait five minutes." We had absolutly great weather for the last four weeks but the last two days Mon. & Tues. was the first wicked rainy weather days this year. Expect some rain and a few toad stompers along with bright sunny weather.

Thanks for the encouragement. I guess if we get too crazy I can just hole up at Marathon. I just had every minute planned . Capt. Bill, I have only been here 7 years... but I don't think Layton changes much. My kids when to Davis H.S., I think they just tore down the original 1905 building.

Rained and thundered last night, Sunny and bright today. The Gulf side is much calmer but you're limited in the Keys.

here in north and central florida on the atlantic side it has been rain and gale warnings since monday. absolutely rotten weather but improving today. did not hear of any named storms but the low north of cuba has been a real bummer.

The low looks to be moving NNW slowly and a return to normal conditions.

Thank you, that storm shook me up a bit. I hope it is not a omen of things to come for you. Anyway, I will be sailing out of Fort Myers on Wednesday (Hurricane bay Marina). You are all welcome on my boat!

After 20 years in central (not south) Florida I can tell you that rainy days as distinguished from passing (sometimes torrential) thunder storms are rare. We have now had 8 straight mostly rainy days. It’s like spring time in New England. The weather’s gotta break soon. Tomorrow’s forecast: 70% chance of rain.
