Islamorada with Kids

Hey guys,
Looking for advice and tips to spend a few weeks in Islamorada and nearby Keys, as mooring options, recommended marinas, restaurants, attractions and dive sites!
Thanks in advance!

If you come in through snake Creek you can head north a couple miles and anchor off marker 88 restaurant, they do a good mahi-mahi sandwich. You can anchor anywhere it's all calm. Plantation yacht harbor marina is nice with a great pool. If you go south from the bridge you will anchor in Islamorada proper with several good restaurants. Diving at molasses reef is ok, can not hold up against the Bahamas. If you are on the bayside just south of Tavernier Creek stop and say hi, we are the only tall mast in the area.

Visit by a kayak or dinghy Lignumvitae Key and Indian Key. The first one has a botanical garden which you can tour with a ranger. Indian Key has trails and remnants of an old settlement, but it is a small island, you can walk it all over in half an hour or so.

Most of the times I ate there, it was at the Islamorada Fish Company.

Not much for snorkeling in that area. If you want a good experience you should go to Little Torch Key.

A few things come to mind in that area.

Theater of The Sea, swim with dolphins.

Feed the Tarpon at Robbies, it's exciting.

Walk the docks at World Wide Sportsmen/Bass Pro. Every time we do we see tons of parrot fish, angel fish, sergeant major damsels, tarpon, sharks and a few times manatees.

We have not yet visited, but the "History of Diving Museum" is also there.

Depending on draft, etc, but some fun things to do, places to see, if it's not too rough out Hens and chickens reef, is a good snorkel, it's in a no take zone,,, Indian key is pretty cool and we've stayed overnight on their free moorings, or you can anchor and dinghy in, neat island with a self guided tour, cool gunkholing on bay side all over if your draft is under 5ft. It is lobster season until March so you can always enjoy fishing and lobstering,,,
