Re: Is it crazy to sail BVI in summer?

Not that you are looking for advice but after your comment on crew would only suggest to put your "Captain" to the test before you are far from land with him. Have run across several "Captains" that were very scary to sail with. I was thankful they were not in charge.

Hopefully your captain will have personal recommendations or again definitely sail with him before your departure. Not that hard to get a 6-pack and call yourself a captain.

Personalities can change when the feces hit the whirling blades. Just beware of those who talk a lot about their experiences. Whether racing or cruising I have made it a policy never go to sea with anyone I have never previously sailed with....but thats just me.

This may be a non issue so I apologize for butting in however there are a few horror stories out there regarding the above.

Very appropriate comment. In my case, I do know him (Paul) very well personally, know his skills, have sailed with him, and know his extensive offshore experience, and have been planning this trip with him for a couple years now - so I think I have my bases covered here. But I do appreciate the concern!
