Blue Stocking, we are in the States. Someone put the binocs on our house and all seems well, we'll know more later this week. How did you make out? Saw some pictures on Bernews that looked like not everyone had added chain to their moorings.

There is some news here Caribbean Hurricane Network - stormCARIB.com - Local Reports on Tropical Systems threatening the Caribbean Islands with links to more news. Not as bad as it might have been, Igor passed 45 miles off shore but still very strong winds. It seems that the electricity is down so Bluestocking may not be able to access the web.

We lost a soffit and some rocks on the southwest side of the house which must have been after the storm slipped by. Is your boat/house OK?

Hi Hannah,

Was busy yesterday unbuttoning the house. That was Quite a breeze alright!!
We are opposite the airport on Ferry reach west end, so caught the whole 24 hrs right in the face. When the eastern side of the eye wall passed over the western end of the island, we at the east end of the island got the hurricane belt, probably from about 9pm Sunday to Daybreak Monday. Friends at Harbour Radio told me consistent 75-80, many gusts 90+.
No damage at all to house. Surprisingly!! Bluestocking stretched out and broke new 7/16 and 3/8 chains at about 3am (97kts at that time). She made a run for God's compromise on hurricanes, the mangroves, where I lost the bow rail and the starboard side of my new 1 grand Imron paint job, 1 month old.
Our Emergency Measures Organization is amazing efficient, and today the airport is 100% open, and the island is clean, if not pretty. Hibiscus will take a week to bloom.
No personal injuries that I have heard of, for which we are thankful.
Took a drive out to Abbotts Cliff today, and Trunk Island looks OK.
Had enough for this Year!!

Thanks, Blue Stocking, that was really good news to hear and generous of you to go check on the old house. Thank you. I'm sorry about the damage to your boat. We had the Rita T on a mooring at the end of Ferry Reach in '98. I'm glad your boat washed up on a relatively soft side of the inlet.

Some recent year, I forget which, the hurricane alphabet ran right through Wilma and then started over again at Alpha. Wilma and Alpha blew in Bermuda at the end of October that year. But, I agree, enough this year.

A few years ago we had one on June !st, Another year, I think it was the full alphabet year, we had one over the top into January.
In 20 years, we have gone from 4 to 7 months range
