How to Buy Cruising Guides?

Living in Denmark the VAT and customs fee can make a book bought in the US three times as expensive. Some of my cruising guides have been sourced in the UK, which is fine (inside the EC), but the selection is not complete.

We will arrive to Barbados this December. Any chances of picking up, in a local shop, Chris Doyles: "Trinidad and Tobago" or the Virgin Island Cruising Guide (the latter could be sourced as we sail north)..

Cheers,
Dane

www.half.com, used guides! Are they subject to the same duties?

This world is great..

Thanks Nexus for your very kind offer. However, we are leaving Denmark in the midle of july.

As it is, I have already arranged with very helpfull people to leave the Doyle Guide at a sail loft in Barbados for my pick up upon arrival. Great!

Amazon.uk do not have the current Trinidad & Tobago edition - only an old version. It does not matter if it is used items. When they come in to DK from outside the EC, you must pay around 25-28% VAT+tax based on the order value PLUS shipment. Also a handling fee of just under 30 USD is added. When you buy expensive stuff this fee is irrelevant, but try buying a book in USA at 25 USD, add shipment, multiply then by 1.25 and add 30 bucks.. Sucks
