Help! Exumas Cruising Questions

Thanks Homero. Great website. That DeLorme tracker is slick. https://share.delorme.com/HomeroI see your 30 miles offshore Ft Lauderdale at the tail end of your grand adventure. That is one that I plan to do as soon as I build my level of confidence. I used to have my very own Gildo, and together we had great adventure before we were 17 years old. You and the crew look like your having a good cruise.

Thank you Dave.

PS: Love the Outremer Cats. One of my favorite. Unfortunately too big for the slip in front of my house.
Homero, now several weeks after your maiden voyage to the Bahamas on your sweet Oceanis 38, did you have any concerns about the five foot draft?

Rick, there where times that I would prefer to have a lifting keel...but with time, you learn where you can go and where not. Even with 5'4" we touched the floor a couple of times, due to shifting sands... At one place the Navionics was showing 13 feet and we touched it...
Cheers

I love the Exumas. Make sure to stop at Shroud Cay.
This is the definitive answer. All of your questions will find answers in Steve's book.

Spam: I think I have the explorer charts I could sell. But they are OLD.

Re: Help! Exumas Cruising Questions

I haven't seen it mentioned and I haven't done it myself, but on my list is to dive Victory Cat. From what I have read it is one of the best sites in the Bahama's. It is a drift/wall dive at about sixty feed. It is just south of Bimini if you decide to head for the Exuma's.

Here's a link

You might want to see what noonsite has to say about Nassau.

Take care,
Doug
