Grenada to Cuba direct - Tips Tricks Advice?

Hi All, I will be sailing to Cuba in the coming weeks and would love to hear from anyone who has made the direct route across the Venezuelan Basin leaving St Vincent to Grenada region. The yacht is a Wharram Catamaran, Tiki 38' so hearing from cat owners would be particularly appreciated. I'm considering doing the trip solo, to meet up with Zaya in Cuba mid April. Did you go the Mona Passage or the Windward Passage route? Lessons learned, good ports of call in Dominican Republic or Haiti for stop over, recommended cruising guides for the area, shipping areas, nav hazards of note, that sort of thing. Currently favouring the Mona passage route but open to hear anyones first hand experiences and recommendations. Thank you very much in advance, Stewart Coates
