Globalstar sat phone coverage in Exumas?

Does anyone have first hand experience with using a globalstar sat phone in the Exumas? I would like to use Globalstar since they are more economical than Iridium, however I want to be sure there is good coverage in the Exumas.

Not sure how they are today but 2 years ago the coverage was erratic because they had so many satellite problems. If fact, they had a web site that you could enter your position and they would tell you when and for how long (15 sec - 35 min) you might get coverage. But it was very cheap then ($20/month unlimited). Worked fine to check in with family as long as you could wait for a signal and did not mind losing it and trying again later. We were never able to connect the computer long enough for doing anything. I understand they are much better now. BTW, we have a complete GS phone package we will let go cheap.

Global star /spot has added coverage in the last year and their map is solid for the entire Bahamas area. Must be someone down there with a phone.

Thanks for the info. I may try a rental before buying to make sure it works well.
