Fort Lauderdale to Caribbean ?

I've heard that October is the best month to hitch a ride from fort lauderdale to the Caribbean? I'm wondering if fort lauderdale this is the most active place, and (relatively) simplest place to find crewing positions in Florida? And is October the best month? I'm looking into heading out there from california and want more reliable Information before I do?

Fort Lauderdale yes, you can find a boat there! October?? well mate , its still hurricane season, at the end of october things calm down, but you never know!! Good luck ..

I plan on setting sail mid to late november after hurricane season.

I thought October, even mid to late October, was a little early. My employment on a cat up here ends early October.


Any advice out there for landing a crew position to the caribbean from ft lauderdale?

Have experience, references, and letters of reck, I'm thinking walking the docks is a good start?
