Just returned from a couple of weeks cruising in Kuna Yala, and checked out the duty-free shops upstairs in PTY.
One of the young lovelies that inhabit those places was handing out free samples of what may have been a new
rum. I believe it was named "centenario", which doesn't help much as a number of
Caribbean rums use that word as part of their name.
This one came in a tall, slim bottle, was 30 years old, and
sold (on Monday, March 4) for $96. It was pure ambrosia, and I would have bought it except that I had a bottle of 18-y-o Flor de Caña checked in my luggage. I now regret not making the
purchase, and have friends passing through PTY in April who will rectify my error.
My purpose in
posting this is to ask anyone who might be passing through PTY to check and see what the real name of this booze might be and to post it as a response. If you like
rum, buy some.
Thanks in advance!
