I'll be taking a 40' boat from Northern Florida to Key West in mid April. Passage outside, weather permitting. I'm a stranger to this coast and would like info on convenient diesel fueling and overnight spots in both Miami and Key West.

Any comments appreciated.

Fort Lauderdale is a much more convient stop for fueling. There are two fuel docks less than a mile from the cut. Pier 66 on the east side of the ICW and Lauderdale Marina on the west side.

If you time it right you will arrive with a full tank. Leave on a northern wind, and do some sweet downwind sailing.............

Crandon Marina behind Key Biscayne is a good fueling stop if you need it and a good marina if you want to stop. You will also have lots of options for anchoring behind Key Biscayne if you choose that route. Easy run down Hawks Channel through the Keys.
