Re: Do you think she stands a chance?

Yes. In their description on the Uma video they uploaded today they said that Mischief had been lost. I had been following the Mischief videos for awhile as they had a dinghy I was considering purchasing and wanted to see how it performed.

they need to contact us gov and get evacuated as things could get real bad on the island, already looting and armed gangs about apparently, plus jose.

All US citizens who are in St Maartens needs to register with
Travel.state.gov.
Click on Irma and go to Task Force. They are looking at sending ships or C130s to get US citizens out of there. With the debris in the water, it may be C130

"Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated". (Mark Twain)

We have heard some encouraging news regarding Callisto.
The manager of Bobby's Mega Yard was able to get to the yard yesterday for a brief look. He said that things were better than he had expected with "most" sticks still pointing upright and just a few boats down. Much better than I had expected. This report makes me think that while I certainly expect damage, Callisto will be salvageable.

Also, Budget Marine has posted that they are "still here" and supporting the boating community. That is also a good sign for everything on Wellington Rd. (IWW, FKG, Electec).

Re: Do you think she stands a chance?

thats good news, seems like the boats packed in tight at boca marina yard did ok as well

meanwhile looting by armed gangs has started, pelican resort is currently being robbed.

seems like all the prisoners have escaped and armed themselves and are apparently trying to get off island,so boat thefts of vessels that survived are likely.

Re: Do you think she stands a chance?

Atol et al, Looting is inevitable, when you lose your home, you still need to eat/keep warm etc. For most it is a simple need, but unfortunately like everywhere in the world, there are criminals. If your boat is in the water and functional I would stay well clear of it for your own safety.Your life is more valuable than your boat to you. For others the reverse is true.Every day is a harrowing reminder of an event we endured 13 years ago but the memories are as if it happened yesterday seared into our minds. For the islanders the hard part is just beginning. We both shed tears yesterday as more and more pictures became available. We send you our best wishes.Robbie and Bev

Well, Callisto lay in the port side in the hard, good news is a Vagabond, thick hull, and the masts are in place , hope there is not much damage to the hull and inside, otherwise looks pretty decent after all. Good luck.

Re: Do you think she stands a chance?

Callisto42,

If my understanding is correct, expect damage to the attachments for the joinery, both on the side that is down and opposite there. Rigging damage is also possible. When the boat is lifted, you'll be able to see if there is crushing to the fiberglass.
