Re: DIY Marina Way Up a River West Coast Florida?

Apollo seems like a nice comprise. Very high on the list.

A lot of what I need to do can be done at a mooring or dockside. Looking to keep the storage costs down.

Any places anyone can think of that have even less expensive wet storage over that way, but don't have theft problems? Moorings are ok. Just trying to sort through a lot of options here. Wet, dry, moorings. It doesn't matter much. Security does.

Someone stole my anchor off the bow recently (and my tender and my kayak and my bike and several other things) in the Green Cove Springs area. So I'm trying to put places with human decency and good people as well as price first. Places without all the sketchy characters plotting to rob you.

Bottom of the boat is fine. Needs topsides and interior work and in water storage is ok.

On that note, if anyone sees a 60lbs Manson Supreme for sale in Florida or recently bought one in the Jacksonville or St Augustine area used, please let me know. I'd love to catch these people.

Apollo beach marina has a brand new travel lift. The owner is Bruce, he took over for his dad.

Try Belle Hatchee Marina in LaBelle. Not upscale but very reasonable, cleverly hidden, like going back to the 80s, definitely diy. Some museum pieces are present. Trimaran paradise. There is a swim pool and Wayne offered free citrus in season.
Pm me if you want some pics....I think I can find them.

After going through all these marinas, Hatchee definitely looks like the best choice. Thank you!

Do they use a hydraulic trailer there to pull them up the boat ramp I see on the satellite view? Or do they have a huge travelift?

It's no issue pulling her out with a trailer under the bridge deck if that's how they do it.

He uses a farm tractor and has several different trailers for cats or tris.

No need for the extra help. I understand that setup. And thank you. This is perfect.

Yes except no trailering of trimarans, travelift limited to 18 ft wide .
We launched our Horstman at the city launch, after 8 mile two lane police escort .police would not accept any payment, done as public service, much fanfare and spectators.
Yacht Basin Marina shallow and docks in poor shape. Don’t expect any fancy amenities.
Kingfisher is new and nice but no diy in the marina. Great staff at kingfisher and black warrior marine repair.. call for price quotes before committing. Metered electric. No pavement, messy when it rains, dusty when it’s dry.
Demopolis, amazon prime is four days!!! You want it when ?lol
Customer service at Walmart will introduce you to a new low.
Lumber at Marvin’s , or homedepot in Tuscaloosa. Any plywood quality is crapshoot as is most stick items. Fastenal’s got a fair selection as does tractor supply. Harbor freight in Meridian. Run of the mill fast food and a handful of good restaurants.
Nice library, very historic city imo.
We have two boats , one on hard one in old marina as our draft allows itand our rv here.
Boat people get together on Saturday evenings for byo get togethers in the lounge or on patio.

Re: DIY Marina Way Up a River West Coast Florida?

Anyone know any current info about Belle Hatchee?

Been calling every day for a week. No answer. No returned calls. No website. No email.

Sitting in Stuart at the entrance to the Okeechobee and don't know what to do.

The other one up there for in water storage only isn't answering emails but I'm trying not to be too persistent by calling too quickly.

But Belle Hatchee seems to be out of business.

Chotu-
No idea, but try using Google Maps to locate a neighboring business. Then a phone call to ask "This may sound strange but...would you know if..." and folks might be able to tell you. You can also call the local PD and ask the same thing, if they would know if the business is still operating. The worst they can do is call you names and say "No."

There's Owl Creek Boat Yard up the Caloosahachee River from Ft. Myers.

They are asleep at the switch at Belle Hatchee. Guess I'll go to a different spot.
