Thanks, you're right. I was seeking some justification. I appreciate the well thought out response. Anal isn't really the right word: he'd freak out over a crumb on the counter but leave blood all over the deck for me to clean up. He was neurotic, forgetful, blaming me for something I watched him do.

I guess I just want to warn people to be fully aware of what a delivery entails.

And yes, he's human and entitled to make mistakes without being crucified. But there is a line.

Boatman, i didn't treat it as a freebie course, expecting him to impart all his knowledge upon me. I expected, if I was to be on watch, and expected to alter course with squalls (as I was expected to do) while using the auto-pilot exactly how to do that and how to return to previous waypoint, without having to refer to the users manual because the skipper 'forgot' to tell me. He actually said, 'Didn't I already show you this?' Uh... Nope.

And i did point out that single handing is different. Namely, you aren't responsible for the safety of two sleeping crew. Who you've repeatedly reminded to stay alert and to look out for ships.

Anyway, ad nauseum, flogging dead horses and all that.

Hey Voyager.. don't take me so serious.. no one else does...
Just on my way to starting my own delivery trip.. 6th time for this crew..
But then... they like sleeping in, my cooking and the runs ashore...

Hard not to, despite the emoticons. I was in earnest and being called a whinger set me on the defensive. I wouldn't have ever reached the position I am in in my day job if I was a whinger.

As for you and your crew, you obviously set out your expectations of your crew and they know what to expect from you. Hence you've used them for 6 deliveries. They trust you and you trust them. Easy. But I'm sure the first trip was a bit more of an exchange than you might realise, enabling you to get to this point. 7000 miles with the guy and I didn't know where I stood until I got on that plane.

Good sailing and fair winds.

no point in crying over spilt milk, you got from a to b,put it down to experience and move on......on the plus side you now have 5000 miles logged,so you can go and become a skipper yourself now,and have your own incompetent crew to scream at!
