DEEP draft, EC to FL, possible stops?

Hi All,

We're going to be making a pretty quick trip from Martinique to FL in January, will probably go direct via the Old Bahama Channel, but may hole up for weather, if there's anywhere to do so, hence the question here-is there any protection to be had on that route? I don't think that we can get up onto the banks and get behind a cay for shelter-and I'm not keen to stop in Cuba with our US flag.

After the DR, is it a non-stop affair with a 10' draft? Seems that way, but someone may have some tips.

Thanks, TJ
