Daysail Charters in Miami Beach?

Gonna be in Miami Beach for a few days next week and thought I'd like to rent a boat for a day.

Anybody know if that can be done? And where? and how?

In San Diego, there's a company that has a range of boats for rent and an office in the marina next to the convention centre. I rented a 22-foot Catalina and had a great time earlier this year.

Want to replicate the experience in Florida.

I would check with Florida Yacht Charter (Alton Rd, South Beach). I've never chartered from them for a day, but my guess is that with the current economic situation, if they have a yacht available they'll charter it to you. It will almost certainly be more expensive than the per day rate for a longer charter, I would expect.

Castle Harbor at Matheson Hammock on Biscayne Bay south of Miami used to rent smaller boats. CastleHarborSplash but they wanted $180 to prove I could sail a boat...don't mind the test but refused to pay the money.

Got a few friends at www.CGSC.org that are retired, bored and need crew. PM me if you want a name or two.

The Alton Rd companies might have day charter but they have bigger cruising boats.

Thanks for the advice.

I eventually found a small company, Aquatic Rental Center, in Pelican Harbor Marina.

URL is arcmiami.com.

Boats a tad shabby, but they had a couple of Catalina 25s, a couple of J boats and a newer Hunter 21.

First few days here we had winds in the high 20s and low 30s, so no sailing. but the winds dropped today to 15-ish and we had a good sail on Biscayne Bay on one of the 25s.
