Customs & Anchorages in Martinque

We're looking for the best place to clear in and anchor for the night in Martinque. Not planning to spend any time there unless weather forces us to hang out to continue our way to Granada We are looking to check in the Fort De France area
Thanks

If you're just passing through, just anchor for the night and leave in the morning with no checking in. The French are very relaxed about that sort of thing. I've done it several times. Schoelcher, just north of Fort de France, on the west coast is a good spot.

Re: Customs & Anchorages in Martinque

Fort de France is not the nicest. Try Grande Anse d'Arlet. And I agree you need not clear customs if you anchor only for the night.

La Martinique is I believe one of if the most beautiful island of the lesser Antilles. It is the best place for provisioning and especially for wines. To provision you should stay at Le Marin at the south of the island. Leader Price have a dinghy dock where you can unload from the cart into the dinghy.

Re: Customs & Anchorages in Martinque

Fort de France is one of those sensational anchorages.
the center of a small old town with a fort on one side, a huge dinghy dock, nice park and new beach.
Easy small restaurants in the park and some nicer ones in the centre of town near the tourist souvenir market place.
A carefour (not huge) supermarket in the middle of town. Good free wifi at McDonalds on the waterfront, and KFC.

If you want to clear in its FREE at Yacht Services on the main street in front of the dinghy dock, turn left as you look at the dinghy dock from the boat, walk 300 meters past the busses and see the chandlery. Its in there.
