Current Cut, Eleuthera

I have a question about navigating this cut. Explorer chart book shows that you can go more or less straight when transiting the cut from west to east, or turn to starboard to parallel Current Island and after a bit take up a course to Hatchet Bay, etc. Pavlidis's cruising guide only shows the route paralleling Current Island and makes no mention of another channel.
So, can you go straight? My thought at this point is to use the route that parallels Current Island but I am curious about the possibility of the other route.
Happy Holidays

Re: Current Cut, Eleuthera

We went from East to West and headed to Current Island and then paralleled the island to the cut. We also hit it as max current against us and slowed considerably at one point. Was pretty straight forward. The Explorer charts were "almost" always perfect.
