Culebra/Fajardo Puerto Rico Snorkeling

My gal and I are heading to St Thomas for a few days and then getting on a chartered catamaran and sailing to Culebra for about nine days. Plans are a little fluid. We are wondering if we should just stay in Culebra for the nine days and fly to San Juan for our depature. Or should we sail to Fajardo stopping at islands neaby Fajardo for snorkeling and then drive to San Juan from Fajardo. Since visiting good snorkeling sites are a priority on this charter I was wondering if anyone had local knowledge of the sites around Fajardo? Or should we just concentrate our stay around Culebra?

Mike,

If you are going, Check out Calebrita. It would be on the way for you coming from St. Thomas. Enter from the north and take the hike up to the Lighthouse, Fantastic views. Then if you are looking for some good snorkeling I thought Bahia Tamarindo, a bay to the north of Dewy on the west side of Culebra was worth the dive. Dewy is a nice town and it is only a short hike or hitch to Flamingo beach on the north side of the island.

Have a Great Trip!

Thanks. We were in Culebra last year and did snorkel around Culebrita and also Bahia Tamarindo. Will try and find some places we might have missed this trip. Maybe head to Vieques. I guess we will just see where the winds will take us.
