Everyones trip is different. Even if they make the same stops. The most experienced sailors I've met are the least likely to give a lot of advice about where to go. Besides, really experienced folks are not going to tell you about their special secluded place that the cruising community hasn't discovered yet. It's your trip. Put your stamp on it.

I'm in Freeport near Xanadu. Have a car, condo and 42' Tayana. If you need help email me lgrock@me.com. Nothing on north side to see. Good luck!

By all means go to the Abacos around the top of Grand Bahamas. Munjack is well worth spending time at as well as Green Turtle, Man-A-War, Hope Town and of course Little Harbour and the gallery and Petes Pub. Before you go south you'll want to reprovision in Marsh Haebour at the Maxwells super market the best grocery store in the Bahamas

Yep. Also Steve Pavilidis' Guides to the various parts of the Bahamas, and, if you're going to the Abacos, Steve Dodge's Guide to the Abacos.

Re: cruising the Bahamas. all of your info, please!

Since you said you're a novice at best, do note that a 3-4 month cruise starting in June does put you smack dab in the middle of hurricane season. I would try to scope out a couple of places to bail out in case a storm comes your way. You don't really want to be way out in the sticks without a plan for getting some good shelter should your particular part of the world get hit. Marsh harbor might be a pretty good choice as a base, and there's good cruising within a decent distance of there.

I haven't been to Marsh in a long time, not sure about the infrastructure there these days, but I remember the harbor as being pretty good with good holding if you wind up at anchor.

Anyway, others can advise a better itinerary, but I didn't see anybody mention hurricane season and wasn't sure if you were thinking about it. Have a great trip. TJ

incredibly late in getting back to you all, but trust I've been taking notes of each post/suggestion. biggest thing seems the Explorer charts, which I have, thankfully. leaving on Monday for northern route to Abacos, shall keep checking in here and stealing everyone's advice. seriously - a hearty thanks to all.
