Great Guides but the paper quality of the ring bound versions is abysmal - seems to be a built in sell by date feature so you need to buy the new version every three four years as the old one has fallen apart . And dont dare get them wet.................the paper seems to have a water activated glue coating

We've had ours 3.5 years and haven't had a problem with it falling apart. Keep it dry and it should hold up fine. We bought a new one just recently just for the updates.

I'm curious, any major differences?

Biggest thing we noticed is the addition of a section on scrub island. I'm sure there are other minor updates and such that we just didn't pick up on yet.

Yes well i have a 20 year old traditional bound version and it is in immaculate condition. The ring bound versions as sold now use much thinner poorer quality paper and they dont last and the paper like i said seems to be coated with a water seeking glue I for sure dont know how to remove the humidity/moisture 100% on a Caribbean cruising boat unless you have A/c. Further i dont expect to have to treat a crusing guide with kid gloves and like it was a signed first edition i expect it to be reasonable robust and that is not the case with these guides......the most noticeable updates seem to be more advertising of local establishments.

Re: Cruisers Guide for BVI

We used the Pavilidis guide and it was OK. It was the newest version at the time but did not seem as up to date as the publication date would suggest.

I would think the addition of all the mooring balls and the marina in Great Harbour would be new to guides.
